Hi there,

You’ve found the personal website of Peter Hayman—theoretical physicist at heart, general purpose thinker in practice, and just a real character overall. A bit about me for the new folks:

My background is theoretical physics; studied my way to a PhD on effective field theories in Canada and completed a postdoc in cosmology here in New Zealand. As much as I love my field and the academic life, I’m also a big believer in living the scientific method and trying new things, so I’m working on some big changes in the near future.

One such change is focusing more on sharing my unique perspective on physics, math, life, etc. with the world, for which my blog is the main gateway. Keep an eye on that as it will also intersect with my other plans and schemes where I focus more on my skills as a problem solver and explainer.

Speaking of plans and schemes: I’ve finally started producing a long-time passion project in the form of a limited series of Youtube videos. If you’re interested in hearing about how to think about theoretical physics as the poetry of Nature, take a look at The Beauty of Theory.
